RATTLES

People who visit our booth at powwows have requested that we add some of our other art to our web site.   As committed recyclers, we find many ways to incorporate our unused river-recovered cedar into new art forms.  Each piece is unique.  We provide examples here to let you know what we can do.  Our art has won many awards and is featured in the Native American exhibit at Stone Mountain State Park in Georgia and at the Indian Mounds Museum in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery of any of the original artwork featured here.  We will create a unique masterpiece to your specifications, allowing you to be actively involved in size, color choices and other details.  We look forward to an artistic collaboration with you.  Call today to start the process: 1-256-538-0246.

RATTLES

We make two different styles of rattles: gourd rattles and rawhide rattles.  We grow our own gourds, dry them for a year, and build beautiful rattles with river-recovered cedar handles.  We apply polyurethane to the cedar to bring out the natural colors, patterns and textures in the wood.  Rattles are adorned with long leather fringed handles, colorful thread wraps and horse hair at the top.

Gourd Rattle with leather handle: $39.95.

Cheryl can also custom paint these rattles.  Dragonflies, butterflies, bears, eagles, turtles, gila monsters, hummingbirds . . . anything you want can be painted on a gourd rattle to make it your own unique one of a kind ceremonial instrument.  Each rattle will have native pattern borders painted around it.  These are truly unique.  One of our rattles is on display at the Stone Mountain State Park Museum, Georgia's largest tourist destination, in their Native American Art Collection.  Call us today to design your own rattle.

Custom Painted Gourd Rattle: $99.95 and up (depending upon design)

Rattles can be filled with the traditional corn and bean mixture which produces a nice cadence.  If you choose seed beads, the sound is softer and gentle, more like a swoosh, swoosh.  Shells make a nice sound too, almost like bells tinkling.

Rawhide Rattles $69.95.

We use every scrap of rawhide.  Nothing is wasted.  That is how we create these wonderful rawhide rattles.  Each is hand punched and sewn with sinew.  Handles are leather wrapped, with 4-6" of fringe extending below the wooden handle.  We fill rawhides rattles with shells, beads, black-eyed peas, beans, corn: each makes its own unique sound.  Call and we will build a custom rawhide rattle for you.  You choose the voice, the leather, the fur.  We can also paint rawhide rattles for an additional fee.
